I received this Mona's Mini Blog Award! Thanks Mona. I'm so honored.
UPDATE: There is a correction to the rules, as indicated in red:
The rules are: Acknowledge via link the artist who passes you the award and pick it up from their blog. Then, name five of your all-time favorite movies. Additionally, name your pick for this year's movie of the year. Then pass the award forward to three miniature or ACEO blog artists you appreciate for their finely detailed art on a small scale, linking them in your post.
Okay, my all-time favorite movies are (not necessarily in this order): Ladyhawke, Somewhere in Time, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Sanjuro, and The Long Kiss Goodnight. My pick for this year's movie of the year is Grand Torino.
I'm passing this award on to Gail Ragsdale, Kathleen Coy, and Vern Schwarz.

What great movies, Akiko! I love, love, love Ladyhawke!!! In fact, it's my Etsy seller name!
Thank you so much for the award, I am honored! I'm going to have to think about my 5 favorites a little bit because I like so many...
Congratulations, Akiko! Fun award, and well-deserved :-) Ladyhawke was great. I remember being entranced by Rutger Hauer. Great selections!
Kakoii!!! You're always a winner in my book Akiko-san!
Akiko, I apologize because it was probably too vaguely articulated in the rules themselves, but I am aiming Mona's Mini Blog Award specifically toward honoring miniature and ACEO painters interested in miniature painting, so I have reposted the rules in a new post including more specific wording just on this one point.
Please don't worry about it, but just so it aims it right, can you just articulate this to the three people you passed the award on to, and let them know the corrected rules are posting today on my blog? Thanks!
Mona, thanks for your clarification. I will correct the rules, but it might be too late for one of the three given the awarded by me.
Congratulations Akiko! You deserve all kinds of awards. Your kitty portraits make me melt! They are just so wonderful that I have no words. You surely must love them to see them so clearly! Best thoughts from the brush, Doris
Thank you so much Akiko, I am humbled that you named me for this award, but because I am not that familiar with, or have even attempted any ACEO art, I feel it would not be in keeping with the intentions or spirit of this award to accept. You are so skilled in this format and make it look effortless. As I return to look at Calico or Persian I am amazed and have to break out in a smile. I congratulate you and all the others who have been recognized for their skill in this very unique and demanding art form.
Doris, thank you so much! Hope your snail is doing fine.
Vern, I'm sorry about the confusion. I totally understand. The rules are rules. But I want you to know that you are one of my favorite artists as well as blog buddies. :) Hugs
Akiko & Vern! I'm sorry I didn't see your conversation on this sooner, I've been busy working on two new posts, but please don't feel it's a bust over your lovely art blog Vern, (and for anyone else also), I really want to hear your movie selections too! It's not so serious as all that.
Partly my goal was just to find a way to highlight miniature art, since it's a revived art form and miniature art doesn't always get it's fair share of recognition. I thought if there is just one time there is an blog award for miniature art, it would lift the esteem and raise awareness for the mini artists who are out there, and put some fun into the mix too.
If anyone beats me to it, fine, but knowing how much most artists appreciate movies, I'll work on lining up a similar award for larger art too!
Akiko - I haven't seen a single one of those movies you mentioned. Now I have to hunt them down and watch them!
Akiko!
Congrats!
You deserve every award you ever get. Your work is too good to be true!
