Two New ACEOs

Title: Calico #2
Size: 2.5 x 3.5 inches
Medium: Acrylic

I painted this snow leopard to try to produce something that is good enough to get into a national miniature show. However, it didn't turn out to be as I wanted, so I decided to sell.

The tortoiseshell (calico) cat is just one of my fun ACEO projects. They are both on eBay now. Clicking the picture will take you to the eBay listing.

Akiko you are too hard on yourself - I think the snow leopard would be perfect for a miniature art exhibition. Your work is so beautiful and I have seen very few works done in acrylics with such fine detail, most are done with watercolours. We are our own worst critics!!!

Karen thank you for your kind remarks. I need more patience to do miniatures.

I love these new paintings. The calico cat is gorgeous! I don't see how you do it - working so small! Beautiful!

Once again, more amazing ACEOs! The snow leopard is lovely, but I understand how you feel about not wanting to submit something that didn't turn out as you wanted it to.

The cats eyes are incredible as always. They draw you in and you lose yourself in them...

Wonderful work, Akiko!

Both are beautiful--but I love the intimate up-close pose of the calico. Plus we get to see his gorgeous eyes.

Boy you have high standards Akiko [regarding leopard not good enough] but I guess that is how you become a master in your craft.

I love the calico...such a challenging breed to paint because of the subtle darks on the coat.

Both of these are so beautiful! I agree with Karen...you are too hard on yourself. It looks perfect to me!

The Torti is fantastic. The sheen on top of her head gives her (I'm assuming she's a SHE since she's Calico)a wonderful soft look of good health. As in all of your work, the eyes are alive and alluring.

Akiko, You ARE too hard on yourself! Your snow leopard is beautiful. I enter miniature shows and get to see in person the one at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, WA. They are like all competitive shows, it depends on the juror. Just be careful with the framing, it must be small too.
