When I visited my family in Japan, we went to several temples. This is one of them. It was such a peaceful place and a raven was resting on top of the statue. The actual background is not like this, but I think it goes well with the statue.

A wonderful title to a piece that inspires introspection. So peaceful but so full of presence.
I can just about feel the stoney texture of the statue Akiko and the bird on top is a wonderful touch. I love all your animal paintings, but it is always fascinating to see you paint a different type of subject :))
