An idea of painting a raven watching a total lunar eclipse had been on my mind for a long time. I finally got around to start with this project and had fun especially with the lunar eclipse. While painting, I also thought about having this raven carry a moonstone as an extension of my Treasure Seeker series, but dropped that idea. I might come back to it in the ACEO format.

OMG Akiko! Absolutely stunning!!! This is my favorite one yet! The moon is spectacular and the way the red reflects off the Raven is surreal!
Gail, thank you so much! This one was a fun project, just like my Treasure Seeker series. :)
I tend to by hypnotized by red moon art. You so won me with this. But when did you not? :) Beautiful!
Akiko, Purple and Red/Orange look so regal when they are together. I like how you gave this Raven dramatic lighting against the night sky. Do I see glitter?
I see a man in your moon!
You're Fantastic!
Erika, thanks!! I have seen a total lunar eclipse once, and it was spooky and beautiful at the same time. That's exactly how I feel about ravens. I think they belong together. :)
Alice, thanks! Purple is my favorite color and I think it goes well with red. There is no glitter on this one; I painted the stars. Now I'm trying to find that man you see on the moon....
Akiko, your moon is full of faces and images. I am going to email you the man in the moon from your painting I'm talking about in a few seonds...
OK, now I see the man. Also see faces of a dog and a monkey, but not cat or elephant. This is a good exercise for my brain! It's almost like those 3-D art. Alice, you are very good at this!!
WONDERFUL!! The colors, the subject...all working in perfect harmony. Ingrid
Ingrid, thanks for taking the time to look at my work!!
GORGEOUS!!!! I want to say more but I'm kind of speechless...the colors, the imagery...they speak to me so strongly. So beautiful, Akiko!!!
I just love the moon light refection you've achieved. Very nice.
Kathleen thanks for your visit and your wonderful comments!
Pencil Sanity thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to look at my work!!
Mysterious, dramatic, I'm not for certain how to come up with what I feel about this. I love it!
