Eyes of Billy

Size: 11 x 14 inches
Medium: Acrylic
Support: Stretched canvas

This is Billy. He has the most amazing eyes. We adopted him about three years ago. For some reason, he had no undercoat. All he had was just a single layer of rough topcoat. His doctor thought that he had some kind of allergy that prevented him from absorbing nutrients.

He now has both undercoat and topcoat and gained a lot of weight. Yes, he is one healthy, happy guy!

Akiko, I think I've told you before, but you are my hero at painting cats eyes. This is beautiful as always. I'm glad Billy is healthy and happy now!

Akiko, I'm going to go for terrific here. I'm also beginning to think if these cats were wearing contact lenses, you could pull it off. Great that Billy is back being healthy, and he certainly looks it.

Wow Akiko! 11x14" and it's on canvas too! Each one of those eyes must be about 2 inches across. So interesting the delicate scalloped line within Billy's eyes and that warm reddish orange tone at the bottom. Your cats have no idea how lucky they are to be immortalized with your magic brush!

Vern, thank you! Contact lenses for cats sound interesting.lol

Gail, he sure is a beautiful boy. Thanks for your visit!

Alice, you are right. Each eye is about 2" across. No other cat in my house has that reddish reflection. I think it's beautiful!

Another beautiful portrait--such expressive eyes!! Whenever I meet kitties like that, with hair problems at the Humane Society or whatnot, I always feel it's likely because of stress/depression. Obviously this guy got soooo lucky with you!

Dean, thank you so much for visiting my blog and wonderful comment!

Jala, thank you! I agree. Probably the stree from living outdoors caused his skin problem.
