Monty

Size: 8 x 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic
Support: Hardboard
Sold

This is one of the commission portraits I've just finished. The name of this adorable Sheltie is Monty. The reference photo given to me was not good enough to work from, so I researched and found a perfect ref photo at WetCanvas. Yes, it's this sleeping dog because Monty is blind.

My client purchased this commission as a gift to her husband. When I showed the image of the painting, she said "This will bring tears to my husband's eyes ..." What a nice compliment! It's so rewarding to do commissions when the paintings make your clients happy.

Cats-A-Way Cats, one of the charities I have been supporting, is in desperate need for help right now. Their shelter building was damaged in flood and they need funds to rebuild it. Currently they have no place to house their incoming cats/kittens except their home and it is FULL. Any amount of donation will help. This is their website and this is their donation page with Paypal link.

Dominique thanks! It took me about 15 hours. Way too much for the price, as always. :(

Karen, thanks for your compliment! This client is in Australia. She found me though the Internet. :)

You are an astonishing artist, Akiko! The beauty of this creature and his glorious fur is perfectly set off by the depth of the blues in the background. I am sure this will bring more commissions your way. :-)

Akiko this piece is fabulous. I love the closed eyes, given the fact that Monty is blind. I want to pet that gorgeous fur.

Joanne, Sheila, Mel, and Vern, thank you so much for such wonderful remarks! I really appreciate it.

Akiko!

You've done it again!

Another stunning painting!

Such fantastic soft texture on the dog's fur. Wonderful sleeping pose, natural looking colors, and great composition.

I've said it once and I'll continue to keep saying it....."Akiko makes the impossible, possible!"

Akiko, you show that you care and seek excellence in everything you do. I know that your estimated 15 hours is far below what it actually took overall. You probably didn't count the correspondence time, the time it took to make the decision for you change your clients reference photo to another, the research, packing & shipping, customs forms... and most importantly watching paint dry as you decide how it should develop. Don't forget it took you a lifetime to paint as sharp and as beautifully as you do... 15 hours????

The warmth and love in your art always shows.

fanny, thank you so much!

Alice, thanks! You are right. It took me more than 15 hours. I'm never comfortable doing commissions, but I usually have fun while painting. So in a way, I had 15 hours of fun and several more hours that were not so fun. :-)
