WIP of My Pug ACEO

I took some pictures of my Pug ACEO while painting. Except the final scan, the images are not so great because I used my digital camera, but I think this WIP gives you an idea how I normally work on my paintings.

OMG!!!! Thank you thank you thank you Akiko-san!!! You are so generous to share your work in progress. We can never replicate your work but now we can see how the magic unfolds. Maybe you should write a book!

This is pug is amazing. As fascinating and incredible as the eye is, I can't stop staring at that claw. It really adds a lot to the work! Absolutely beautiful, Akiko! I agree with Sheila, you should write a book! :-)

Akiko, thanks so much for sharing your work process.
I agree with Sheila, it's really amazing to see how it unfolds.

You are such an expert at getting the feeling of dimension and adding highlights and fur. Just when I think it looks done you also take it that extra step further which really makes it pop, so it is an instructive demo also.

And great ACEO, really.
Best regards,

Fantastic! Thank you sooooo much for showing the process. #4 where the eye comes into focus just blew me away. Thought you were done at #7 but you took it 2 steps further which gave it that Akiko final touch of perfection. You are freakin' awesome!

Wow, you should definitely put pen to paper... lovely technique you have, and one that obviously produces very realistic paintings!

Wow! Truly instructive to see how you do this. You are amazing, Akiko. I also love seeing this on the paper towel background, because it re-enforces the scale...meaning how relatively small they are. I concur about the book idea.

Akiko!

I always wanted to see you do a WIP and I finally got my wish!

But.......

Even after seeing all of your steps I still don't know how you did this! It's just so small and ridiculously detailed!

So how does it feel to be a 'modern master miniature painter'?
