Baby Barn Owl

Size: 8 x 8 inches
Medium: Acrylic
Support: Canvas panel
Sold

I found a picture of an adorable baby barn owl on Wetcanvas and just had to paint it. Barn owls have such an adorable face. I have to say they are my favorite among all the owls, although I have never seen them in person.

I am getting pretty busy with my work. Probably won't have any time to paint until the middle of September. :(

Have a great summer, everyone!

Exquisite work, Akiko! At this size I would think it is fairly close to life size. You have painted it so beautifully! Oh, those big beautiful eyes! Hopefully, when he grows up he will thank you by staying around your house and keep rodents away.

Beautiful detail Akiko! Don't you hate it when "work" gets in the way! Looking forward to seeing your artwork when you get time!

Oooooh and ahhhhh Akiko! Have you seen the web cam of owls nesting in CA? I'm not sure if they are located anywhere near where you live (so you could go and photograph them in person) but they are fun to watch. Here is the link - http://www.sportsmansparadiseonline.com/Live_Owl_Nest_Box_Cam.html

I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but I have to admit I fell in love with barn owls recently. I forget the name of his site, but there was a guy who was doing a live feed of a mama barn owl and kept the feed going after her owlets hatched. It was very moving and your painting reminds me of the amazement I felt watching the barn owl feed.
Thank you for sharing.
