Medium: Acrylic Size: 6 x 6 inches Support: Ampersand Gessobord
I painted this for a birthday present for my husband (Curt). He is standing in front of a painting by John Singer Sargent at the museum Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
I see you dress your husband in Blue... was the museum wall blue too? So much detail for a 6x6"! I'm currently painting three Japanese sailors with faces larger than Sargent's lady and my smallest bristle has seen it's day come and leave a long time ago. I'm almost shocked with how exact you made it look! It's hard work to paint that small and be so accurate. Time for me to go shopping, running out of paint colors and my brushes are falling apart- literally. I know you must have a lot of tiny brushes standing by. Very Nice gift for your husband... or was it really for you?
Ha ha ha, Alice, he can manage to dress himself in blue without my help. You are such a keen observer! The actual museum wall is white. I made it blue; don't know why, maybe something to do with the color of the floor. Anyway, he liked his gift. :)
Well happy birthday to Mr Akiko aka Curt! Man, he's obviously LOVED! I'm amazed with all the detail too as Alice is. I paint in acrylics but I don't think I've ever attempted this much detail - great depth too!

Erika, thank you for visiting my blog. This is one of very few non-animal paintings I have done. Painting people are always difficult for me.
