This is my entry for the Different Strokes from Different Folks blog run by amazing artist Karin Jurick. This is California Roll. It must be born here in California. I 've never seen it in Japan. In fact not many Japanese are familiar with Avocado, which is one of the indredients of this Sushi. My favorite sushi is nigiri with Hamachi.

A beautiful job on the gaijin sushi, Akiko! That soy sauce looks so slippery and liquid!
(I have a sushi question: may I ask you? It sounds like you are an expert.)
Yum!!! You paint sushi as beautifully as you paint animals, Akiko!
Wonderful! I like mackeral, octopus and eel the best...
This is gorgeous, Akiko! My favorite sushi is the one with all the flying fish roe! (Also love it with salmon roe.)
Beautiful job , your soy sauce looks great!
Ooooh - the liquid is this painting is outstanding! You have done the reflections and light beautifully (to say nothing of the sushi itself)! Nice to see how versatile you are as an artist! :-)
Waaah!! Sugoi! It's beautiful. The tobiko looks like tobiko!
R. thanks! Of course you can ask me Sushi questions. :)
Deb, Gail, Kathleen, Judith, Joanne, and Sheila thank you so much! You girls are so nice! Interesting to know what kind of sushi you like. I never thought octopus and eel are popular here.
I actually like tobiko (flying fish roe) combined with different kinds of fish.:)
I have never had sushi, but Im tempted after your painting!
Sam, what a nice compliment! If you don't like raw fish, you can always try vegetable sushi. :)
Akiko, your realism in this one is astounding. It really looks like the real thing. Bet it tastes better than the real thing, too. Hah...my word verification for this is suchee
James thanks for your compliment! Google is now secretly helping you out with the word verification because you had problems before. lol
I'd eat that sushi too! WOW Love how you did the soy sauce! The sushi looks like something sweet and yummy!
Mmmm...I can't believe that is only 2.5X3.5 - you are amazing Akiko! As for sushi - I like it all - yum - now I'm hungry:)
Shelley, thanks for your visit!
Erika, if this sushi looks sweet, you must love wasabi.
You have influenced my dinner menu Akiko! I am craving something with rice & soy sauce now! (I'll save the fish for the family feline) :>) Amazing job! -T
Thank you Tom! Your kitty will love you forever. :)
Very taste-illy painted. I know that's not a real word, but I couldn't resist here. I love sushi, and you make me hungry for it with this beautiful painting.
Vern, thanks for your visit and kind remarks!
